Overview

This plant began operations as the general plate plant of Yawata Works at Yawata Steel in 1957, and began production of stainless steel plates in 1963. The plant was renovated in 1988, becoming the world’s only (at that time) dedicated stainless steel plant with a quarto rolling mill.
It is positioned as a plate manufacturing site with production that is on one of the largest scales worldwide.
